Have you ever felt like giving up? If so, you are not alone. There are times in our lives when it is difficult to move forward. The challenges of life can be difficult to face, even at the best of times, and sometimes we may feel overwhelmed as we navigate through them.
One of the things that can be helpful is to take time to talk with God. As we begin to share our feelings with Him, He hears our prayers. King David recognized this about His own relationship with God. He shared many feelings as he wrote the psalms, and this gave him opportunity to also hear what God had to say.
Here is a sample prayer to help you to share your feelings with God when you feel like giving up:
I feel like giving up. Whatever I have been doing, isn’t working anymore, and I feel empty on the inside. I am tired and weary, and I realize that I cannot continue to do this in my own strength.
I come to you for rest. I choose to take your yoke upon me, so that I can learn from you. You are gentle and humble of heart, and I want your rest for my soul. Your yoke is easy and your burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). Please remove any yoke from me that is hindering my walk with you, and help me to follow your direction.
Your Word reminds me to be strong, and not give up, for my work will be rewarded (2 Chronicles 15:17). In fact, just like Joshua, you command me to be strong and courageous. I need not to be afraid, nor to be discouraged, for the LORD my God will be with me wherever I go (Joshua 1:9). Help me to stand firm in my faith, and to be courageous and strong (1 Corinthians 16:13).
You also tell me not to be afraid, for you are with me; I don’t need to be dismayed, for you are my God. You will strengthen me and help me, you will uphold me with your righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). By myself it might seem impossible, but with You all things are possible (Mark 10:27). Thank you that I can do all things through you who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).
I’ve heard that your plans are good for me. Your plans are to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Even your faithfulness to me helps me to trust you will all of my heart, leaning not on my own understanding, in all my ways I can acknowledge you, so that you can set my path straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
You really do love me, and you promise to always be with me. Help me to carry on in your strength. I need your help as I move forward. I want to see things the way you do, so that I can grow in your wisdom. I trust you, God, and I am amazed of how well you listen, and how much you are concerned about how I am doing.
Bye for now!
