I pray for those who are experiencing trauma. May you provide them with your shelter. Give them a safe place to run to, and hide if necessary, to find comfort in the midst of any storm. When their emotions feel overwhelmed, and they don’t know what to do with their pain, may you comfort them in the midst of their sorrow.
The name of the LORD is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10)
May your presence soothe their aching soul. Send compassionate people into their lives at their discretion. Help them to process their thoughts. Begin to remove any forms of shame or condemnation from their lives. Let them speak with you about their pain, and hear from you, as well. For you can speak healing into their wounds.
If they are weary, give them rest. In their weakness be their strength. During any times of turmoil be the center of their lives. Speak kindly to them, and let them delight in your joy. Be their peace and cast off any fear. Help them to live, and move and find their being in you. For you are the answer to their prayers.
Jesus of Nazareth is the great Shepherd. May the familiar words of Psalm 23:1-4 remove any distraction, quiet you in any distress, calm any of your fears, and bring resounding peace to your soul:
The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me], I shall not want. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the [sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort and console me. Amen.
