In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe. (Psalm 4:8)
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
For the next few moments, I pray for believers as they reflect upon their day. May these questions help them to process their thoughts, as they prepare for their bedtime:
What was life-giving about your day?
May they rejoice over the small things that brought them pleasure, the things that made them smile, and the good conversations throughout their day. Hopefully, they have also enjoyed times of laughter, moments of solitude, times to relax, and little delights to show them they are greatly loved, highly favored, and always remembered.
What brought you grief or sorrow today?
May the Holy Spirit comfort them with any struggle they encountered, any pain they experienced, and any difficulty that seemed overwhelming. May Jesus of Nazareth remove any yokes of burden, speak peace over any form of hostility, and bring ease of rest to the body, soul, and spirit of each individual who is needing His care.
As they begin to rest, may they fall into a deep and satisfying sleep. Let your perfect love remove all fear, your peace dispel any worry, and your comfort soothe their inner core. Bring your protection to remove any disturbances, your quietness to displace any restlessness, and your refreshing air to help them to sleep well.
May each person be blessed with your loving thoughts, your kind words, and your endless joy. Give them good dreams, remove any lingering stress, and allow them to fall safely asleep in your loving arms. For we pray this in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, Amen.
