The spirit of falsehood will lead many believers astray. It denies that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, and it is not from God. Therefore, we need to test what we are hearing. Any spirit that is from God will acknowledge that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, so this is a great question we can ask when we are testing the spirits.
As a community of believers, we need to depend on the Word of God as our plumb-line. It is the divine standard by which we can test the validity of whatever we hear. If it doesn’t match up with the Word of God, then we need to dispose of it. This is the best way to keep ourselves free from error so that we can follow God’s leading.
When the world speaks, the world listens. We are not called to listen to the world, because we are children of God. As His children, we are called to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, and to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, so that we might be able to prove, and to know, what the will of God is for our lives.
It’s important to stay alert when it comes to discerning spirits. If someone denies the reality of the incarnation of Jesus Christ, then it is an obvious error and a lie of the enemy. So let’s continue to make the Word of God, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, our plumb-line so that we can judge things correctly in the days ahead.
