When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (John 8:12)
In John 8, we find Jesus being confronted by the Pharisees, who neither believed in Him nor in His own authority. They judged Him by human standards, and their hearts of stone kept them from being changed by His glory. By refusing to accept Him, they kept themselves and those around them, blind to the revelation of the light of God’s presence in their midst.
Today, may we enjoy fellowship with God, and with one another, by walking in the light of His presence. As we walk in His light, we can rest assured that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. In confessing our sins we can know that God is faithful to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Forgive us, and our previous generations, for not walking in the light of your presence through faith in your Son, Jesus of Nazareth. Bring us out of the kingdom of darkness, and help us to be found in the kingdom of your beloved Son. May your Holy Spirit bring us His conviction, for His conviction brings life and He convinces us of our need for Jesus. Thank you for bringing Jesus into our lives. He has set us free from all condemnation, so that we can be found resting, remaining, and delighting in Him all the days of our lives. Amen.
