And a highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it. No lion will be there, nor any ravenous beast; they will not be found there. But only the redeemed will walk there, and those the LORD has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away. (Isaiah 35:8-10)
To be honest with you, I am not sure how this works. There is a highway prepared for the redeemed. God’s promise is that we will walk on it, but how are we going to get on it, if our burdens are weighing us down?
Here is a suggestion which may be part of the puzzle.
Come before Jesus of Nazareth. Let His peace settle your soul. When you are ready to unload your burden, give it to Him. Surrender every part of it to Him, by expressing what it is, and how you feel about it. Take your time doing this, for there is no rush. You may do this in a moment, or it may take you longer, but do what is necessary.
Once you have unloaded your burden, then take a moment to breathe. Ask Jesus to make His presence known to you, and ask Him to remove anything that is unclean. Remember, that God is light, and as you walk in the light of fellowship with other believers, the blood of Jesus (God’s Son) will cleanse you from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
Now refresh yourself in His presence. Let Him wash you whiter than snow, and let Him enrich you with His mercy and grace.
God’s Word says that as a believer He has rescued you from the kingdom of darkness and transferred you into the Kingdom of his dear Son, who purchased your freedom and forgave your sins. (Colossians 1:13-14)
Now come before Jesus of Nazareth. Thank Him for being able to unload your burdens before Him. Now ask Him to upload His provision to you. If you have unloaded your burden of sadness, then ask Him to upload His joy. If you if forsaken your fear, then ask Him to upload His perfect love. Do you get the picture?
I think this may be a piece of the puzzle that will allow us to move forward onto the highway of holiness. If you perceive from Jesus, that something else belongs, then please share this with us. Be blessed as you exchange your burden with the provision of His glory. Amen.
