Wine is a mocker, strong drink a riotous brawler; and whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise. (Proverbs 20:1)
Drinking and driving can be a dangerous combination of events where someone chooses to drive a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
When a person is going to consume alcohol, it’s important for them not to drink beyond their limits. Alcohol can quickly impair a person’s ability to think clearly and respond quickly, and no one wants to place themselves, or someone else, in danger of causing an accident.
So, that’s why it’s important to plan ahead and decide to take a taxi or assign a sober designated driver to drive you home if you are going to be consuming alcohol.
Life is short, in light of eternity, and if every person takes responsibility for their alcohol consumption, then no parent, spouse, or family member needs to worry about losing their loved one over someone else’s careless mistake.
Help us to enjoy our time among family and friends, and where alcohol is being served, help us to remember not to drink and drive. Give us a sound mind to plan ahead, and if we see someone impaired, then may we intervene, so that everyone can get home safely. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Amen.
