Rejoicing In Jesus Christ

December 5, 2018 By Lifestyle Prayers 3 Comments

Filed Under: Rejoice Tagged With: rejoice, rejoicing in Jesus Christ

Today, I rejoice that my salvation is found in Jesus Christ. I also rejoice that my parents, who knew the Lord, are at home with Him in Heaven.

Many years ago, while we lived in Newfoundland, I had the opportunity to share the gospel message with my Mom, and I remember how the Holy Spirit came upon her when she responded to the good news and accepted Jesus Christ, as her personal Lord and Savior.

My Mom’s passing reminds me of Mary’s song, for Mary herself also understood her need for salvation and found it in Jesus Christ, her Son.

Mary’s Song:

And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.” (Luke 1: 46-55)

Prayer:

Holy Spirit,

If we are reading this prayer as an unbeliever, then may you help us to understand how our sin separates us from God. Bring your understanding to our minds, so that we can come to know about the eternal life of Jesus Christ, and the payment He made on the cross for our sins.

Thank you for making yourself known to us, and teaching us about the ways of Jesus. May we sincerely consider what Jesus has done for us, and be able to place our faith completely in Him, knowing that He will forgive us of our sins, and cleanse us from all of our unrighteousness. (1st John Chapter 1: Verse 9)

Thank you Holy Spirit, for bringing to our minds the things of Jesus Christ. Amen.
