If you are busy, and it feels like there is no time to stop what you are doing, then maybe its time to take a momentary break.
Maybe you are still tired from last night, and you haven’t had enough sleep, or maybe you are hungry, and you just realized it. Regardless of how you came to this place, you know what its like to feel empty on the inside.
Take a moment and stop what you are doing, and think about what you need. When your car is empty, you look for a gas station to refuel, because you know its impossible to go further in your vehicle, unless you replenish your supply.
The same is true for your body. You need to take the time to refuel it by giving it something to eat when you feel hungry, provide it with extra sleep when you feel tired, and set aside time to rest when you feel weary.
Just like the fuel gauge of your car alerts when you need to add gas so that you can reach your destination, your body also alerts you when it needs your attention, so that you can keep going.
So, why don’t take the next few moments to care for your body, so that you don’t run out of gas on your way to wherever you need to be.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus,
Help us to remember to time to care for ourselves, especially when we are running on empty on the inside. As we take this time to refuel, may we also consider spending these next few moments with you.
You desire to refresh us when we feel weak, encourage us when we feel sad, and to strengthen us when we need direction. May your rest refresh us, your love soothe us, and your peace settle us from the inside out.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for reminding us to take the time to refuel ourselves whenever we feel empty. Amen.
Here is some food for thought on your way out. This scripture verse is from Jesus and it is for everyone who wants to feel refreshed on their journey through life:
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by! 🙂
