Although my memory’s fading, I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior. (John Newton, Amazing Grace)
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
God’s grace is amazing, as we think back to the hour that we first believed. We recognize that He has saved us from our sin, found us upon His own righteousness, given us eyes to see His unfolding grace and ears to hear of His unending mercy.
For this is how much God loved the world—he gave his one and only, unique Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life. God did not send his Son into the world to judge and condemn the world, but to be its Savior and rescue it! (John 3:16-17)
Prayer: God, I just want to thank you for saving me with your grace when I first believed in you. I accept your provision of sending your Son, Jesus, to be the atoning sacrifice for my sins. Thank you for showing me your love, offering me your forgiveness, and for restoring me into a right relationship with you. Amen.
